Spill The Tea with Nikki Tea
This was a YouTube Brand Identity for my client who does podcasts and videos on current news events and chats with speakers. So, I worked with her to create her logo, banner, intro and outro screen.
The Logo
My client gave me a general idea of an animated logo with a cartoon version of herself and some tea being spilt from a cup. Then I was able to perceive her vision of a sort of 90's style theme, giving her the solid idea of a table with the mic and tea cup spilt over it. Firstly, I looked at some font choices for her brand name and gave her a concept sheet of them so she could choose her contenders .Then, I got started on the illustration of her head based on a reference she gave me and I moved on to the other components after that. Once the different parts were done, I laid them out together and we came up with the colour scheme that was best suited for her brand.
The Intro
Now that we had the logo, I could animate it how she initially wanted it as part of her idea. So I was able to then create the different frames that I was going to use for the pose-to-pose animation, some for the cup spilling over and then some for her facial reaction to the spilt tea. Once I put it together, I animated the opacity to fade between the frames so it was smoother and it reached the final pose for the logo.
The Outro Screen
My client also wanted an outro screen so I started off with some concept layouts for the elements of an outro screen. After she chose which layout to use, we then came up with an idea to incorporate a spilt tea to form the box for the video recommendation. But then she decided to have the same spilt tea as the logo across the top of the box instead. Then, we played around with colour options, added a background pattern of a tea cup and some border design in the corners.
The Banner
With this, I started by placing the different elements on the page so that my client could see how the layout would look like. Then, I made a design idea of the spilt tea revealing the slogan my client wanted to use for the banner and she really loved it. From there, we decided on the background colour, icons for her socials and the additional information about her podcast being on other services. After this, I just played around with the blending modes for the elements and also added some shapes in the background to make them pop out.
